REVIEW: Cacharel Amor Amor

Notes: mandarin, black currant, melati blossom, lily of the valley, white musk, grey amber.

Pros: Juicy currant and mandarin anchored by warm light musks.

Cons: Might be a bit too sweet for some.

Development: Very well blended, opening with a strong currant note, and maintaining it through to the end.

Longevity: If applied liberally, a good 8 hrs.

Sillage: Pretty good. The amber really amplifies the sweeter aspects of the scent.

Reminds me of: Escada Tropical Punch, OP Juice

Where can I buy it? $34.95 for 100ml tester at BigDiscount.com

Bottleworthy? If you like sweeter, fruity scents, this might be exactly what you need!

The Bottom Line: First came Anais Anais, then came Lou Lou, now comes Amor Amor....This house sure has a thing for repeated names!

Ok, I'll admit it. I wear and enjoy this scent. I don't care who knows it. It reminds me of being a kid and drinking Hawaiin Punch on a hot Florida summer afternoon, sitting by the pool. Is there anything wrong with that?

Rating (out of 10): 7

What scent do you keep around specifically because it reminds you of your childhood?

I keep any honeysuckle scents around to remind me of the wonderful Avon honeysuckle soap that my grandmother used to put in her blanket chests to scent her quilts. The scent takes me right back to her covering me up with one of those scented quilts on a cold night.

I love this fragrance! Sephora always pushes this scent during Valentine's (fitting). You can find this through Marshalls for 19.99 for a 100 ml (YMMV).

Alex - That's a great buy! When and where did you last see it?

bois - I quite like Cacharel and am looking forward to a new men's scent, if one ever gets released...I thought I read somewhere about a Promesse for Men?

Victoria - it's great, isn't it? I'm sure I can smell cherries, but it must just be the currants...

Joop Homme always reminds me of my childhood, the candy in christmas stockings actually. Lovely memory but I can't wear the fragrance. Its too...something.

As a child I had many favourite scents. Two of the more unfoody ones were chalky concrete cellar and shoeshop. I could stand and inhale those perfumes forever. Now, I don´t know what it is, but every time I apply Hermes Hiris I get that lovely shoeshop association.Hmm, maybee the shop assistant in that particular store was wearing something that mixed up with the leather...maybe there was a bakery nearby...I don´t know. I just know it´s one of the reasons I love it so much.

A whiff of Gap Dream or CK One instantly brings me back to the loud clangy din that was my Jr. High school hallway. Dream was my scent obsession back then (can you imagine? Thinking the Gap sophisticated!!), and my heart's obession wore CK One.

I will sometimes spray my pillows with Dream... it's comforting more for its familiarity than anything. CK One on the other hand, still smells slightly butterfly-inducing and dangerous to me, which is just clearly ridiculous. Definitely a case of the memories tainting the olfactory!

Those are all great memories, folks, thanks so much for sharing!

and bois - it's been a while since Cacharel came out with a men's scent...let's hope it's something as interesting as l'Homme and Nemo!

I will admit it, I really loved Anais Anais when I was in highschool (a while back, indeed). And I am not ashamed of it one bit.

Now I want to try Amor Amor (I sniffed the bottle a couple of times in the past).

The scent of Hawaiian Punch brings back memories of childhood birthday parties. It was served at every single birthday party!

Did I mention I hate Hawaiian Punch? There was never anything else for me to drink! *sobs*

I still have a partially used bottle of Red Door (wore it at 14), a newer bottle of Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose (also worn at 14) and a half used bottle of Colors by Benetton for women that I wore at 16.

At the time I hated it and the only reason that I wore it was because I was madly in love with a football player in my class who wore Colors for Men.

I awaited the day that he would ask me what fragrance I was wearing and then he'd instantly know that we were meant to be together for all eternity.

He never did ask.

Kim - I love this stuff and keep it around as one of my only "juicy" scents. LOL

attreau - I still tell myself that one day soon I will buy myself bottles of both Colors for Men and Women...have very fond memories of both, and none of the other Benetton scents have ever come close!

I keep a bottle of vintage Yardley White Lavender from the late sixties safely tucked away. It was my mother's fragrance and holds for me a fleeting happy memory of being with her before everything changed forever.
