BATH & BODY: Burt's Bees Wild Lettuce Toner

What is it? Lettuce, cucumber and chamomile are used to create a moisturizing and cleansing toner.

Why should I buy it? I use it to help remove excess oil from my skin (and scalp) in the mornings, or when my skin is feeling dry in cooler weather. It smells wonderful (very clean and green) without being too "perfumey" or medicinal. The bottle is very simple and won't look too "fem" for you guys who are worried about bringing beauty products into your bathroom!

Where can I buy it? $10 for 8oz splash at BurtsBees.com

The Bottom Line: Inexpensive, great-smelling, all-natural toner. Works great after shaving as well.

Rating (out of 10): As far as toners go, and because it smells so good, 10

I love the scent of lettuce - know of any other products that use lettuce as a fragrance note?

I never met a lettuce I didn't love so I'm going to have to give this one a go when I run out of that dreadful Santa Maria Novella Acqua di Rose I'm using. It is so heavily perfumed it is almost unpleasant. Not to mention it competes with any other fragrances so I only use it at night. Love the sexy heavy antique packaging though.

Rue - there is something so crips and clean and fresh about the scent of lettuce...I have a hard time with nearly everything SMN...so many of them smelling too linear and almost medicinal on me...not too mention the poor lasting power...I can only imagine this Rose scent...hmmmm....

Face Stockholm makes a really awesome alcohol-free and witch hazel-free Vegetable Toner with a lettuce-water smell to it. It's one of my faves, actually, as far as face gunk products go. I haven't tried this particular Burt's Bees product, but it sure is a million times easier for me to get ahold of than the FS stuff, so thanks!

Katie - Wow...Face Stockholm...their products are pretty hard to come by...better give the BB a try!

One toner I absolutely cannot live without and forgot to mention is Eau Roma by Lush. It is a very gentle toner made from a combination of Rose and lavender and comes in a black plastic spray bottle. The bottle becomes warped after the first or second use from the vacuum created inside the bottle when you spray it. I don't care. They also have a new one called aptly "Breath of Fresh Air", made with rosemary.

Rue - I haven't tried their toners, but will have to re-visit the shop when I get a chance. I'm currently finishing a patchouli and rose mud/facial scrub that I've really enjoyed (name is in Japanese, so can't help you there) and the all-natural sea salt and lime blue scrub, smells like a margarita and feels great...in Japan its called "venus"
