AND THE WINNER IS....

NEW CONTEST FOR MARCH!

AND THE WINNER IS.....

Well, it was a VERY difficult decision, with so many wonderful comments, sometimes funny, sometimes full of insight and wisdom, but it was GOODERIN's insight into communication and her thoughtful sharing of experiences with her family that most resonated for me on a personal level.

Gooderin - Please drop me an email: scenteur7 at yahoo.com, and please include your mailing address! A new bottle of a very special BVLGARI fragrance will soon be on its way!

Thanks to everyone who participated! Please, keep on reading and posting!

Warmly,
Marlen

Marlen, I TOLD you that you should have your own scent blog, yay! And thanks to Patty for spreading the news! I'm looking forward to reading about all scents Marlen, and to trying that del Pozo scent, which sounds (and looks) great! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to "win" some! Welcome to the wonderful world of blogs, there are lots of surprises in store for you, and us I'm sure!

Marlen, I'm waiting for a new scent to come out "Marlen's Talent and Energy" - that will be a best seller. I'll be first in line to purchase.

Hershey, Deb, Parislondres - Thanks so much for the warm wishes and sentiments. Looking forward to making this an exciting blog!

Having loved your writing from afar I am delighted to see you have a blog of your own now and, would have posted a comment anyway to say "Welcome to the Blogosphere", but you just went and sweetened the pot.

Ciao Bello e Cent'Anni Dolci!

Rue - thanks so much for the kind compliment! Keep on posting! Grazie! Grazie!

Hi Marlen, I have enjoyed reading your postings on Basenotes for a long time and now have the pleasure of reading your blog every day. I love the format with the pros and cons and rating systems. Keep up the great work!

Hey Marlen, even though I've given up basenotes, I still allow myself to find refuge in your website. Being horribly detached from trading and experiencing new scents, I can still smell vicariously through your posts. Thanks for being such a fragrant motivation for me. May your transition back to the US be a smooth one. Godspeed.

If I were to win this contest, i would use half the bottle to anoint jesus' feet. Or assuming the rapture fails to be on time (again) I will anoint some hobo's feet. Or assuming the hobo frightens me by trying to lap up the fragrance I will just use it for myself, wholly and selfishly. But only if the other alternatives come to pass or fail to pass accordingly.

Lokon - interesting priorities. I believe Jesus is still using Chopard's Heaven, though he may have moved on to Amen...Thanks for reading and posting! Welcome!

Sali said...

I thought Jesus wears Giorgio because it's the world's most misunderstood fragrance and someone has to stand up for it, in the spirit of non-judgment.

Marlen, I think you're a genius writer on top of being unforgivably gorgeous. Couldn't we just worship you? All the best to you and have fun in Japan, my furusato!

marlen said...

Sali! Thanks for reading and posting, and welcome! Now, when's the next cd/fragrance release?

You have so many visitors and people who comment but have yet to respond here. I wonder whether or not people are just waiting to comment-snipe this post :). Just kidding. How are you doing these days Marlen?

- Alex (scentophile).

marlen said...

Karl - thanks so much for reading and posting! Please do come back, often...and feel free to share your ideas!

marlen said...

Alex - I'm doing well, though anxious about the move! Still have about 50 bottles of perfume to sell! LOL (shameless plug completed).

Sali said...

Thank you for your interest, Marlen. I'm working on another dual launch sometime this year. The next theme will be quite different from the spunky, optimistic vibe of Pink Manhattan but it'll still carry my personality.

Hey Marlen, glad to have amused you :) However, will you do me one little favor? Will you edit my comment to read that the lo mein bit is from post that is on http://jonniker.com? Sorry, it's just I've had my crummy little experiences with being plagarized a few times over the past few months, and I'm feeling sensitive on the subject since it's a raw nerve lately. Sorry to bug ya, I just want to make sure that everyone knows those are J's words. Thanks in advance!

Wonderful comments, I have to reread them again.

Mark said...

Aww, you temptress! I win the contest and now you give away BVLGARI. I can't resist BVLGARI.

So, does this new contest apply to previous winners?????? Hmm? Hmm? Does it? Hmm?

And I am eagerly anticipating my Modigliani, I love red bottles!

marlen said...

Sali - My pleasure! Good luck on the next project and keep us posted!

marlen said...

Katie - did it!

marlen said...

Mark - Anyone can participate! Go, read, have fun, don't worry about me, I'll just be sitting here, waiting, by myself...I'll survive. But YOU, go, have fun, go...

I'm sorry that it upset you so katiedid. I totally understand your sentiment. After 8 years I have no illusions regarding the material I put onto the internet. It will and as a matter of fact it has been pagiarized many times over.

katiedid said...

Thanks rue, it just sucks, but at least I can be vigilant myself about giving credit where it is due, you know?

fragrance lover said...

I sincerely hope I haven't plagarized, I have read so many wonderful comments from fragrance lovers and it made me go re-sniff many of my old favorites, and sniff new things (and test on my skin), for instance,Burberry Brit Gold, thank you Marlen for reviewing that one, it is lovely. (and LOVELY is lovely).

I read somewhere else that Burberry Brit Gold smelled like holiday time to someone, and I don't remember where I read it. It had to be Basenotes, MUA, or NST. Anyway, I digress...

Marlen, feel free to correct any misspellings of mine. (especially where I spelled Beautiful, Beatiful early on in this post.)

marlen said...

Kim - Brit Gold is an odd one - very sweet, but in a good way...I like the sandalwood drydown the best.

fragrance lover said...

Marlen, what are your favorite sandalwoods? And sandalwood with rose?

marlen said...

Hey Kim - that's a great question! I'll post that one as an ASK MARLEN this week!
