Notes:
- top notes of bergamot, brazilian orange and black plum
- a heart of patchouli, rose and cannabis accord
- base notes of chocolate, vetiver and vanilla musk
Why I want it: Let's just say that the name alone intrigues me, nevermind the pairings of rose and chocolate, patchouli and vanilla, and orange and cannabis!
Where can I buy it?
Scheduled for an April 2006 launch, Cannabis Santal will be available at:
- select Fresh boutiques within the U.S., Paris, London & Seoul
- Neiman Marcus
- Bergdorf Goodman
- Barneys New York
- Saks Fifth Avenue

yes, I can't wait to try this. My friend at Blue Mercury has instructions to hide a sample for me if any come in.
Are there any other fragrances with cannabis accord in them?
The fragrance does sound good.
What's with that bottle? Very different for Fresh. Looks like the old Keiko Mecheri which she sold the rights to Guerlain. What's up with that?
I REALLY hope that the cannabis accord is NOT that of the post-ignition version - to me the smell of burning pot is repulsive, somewhere between a cheap cigar and smoldering dog poop. It is not exactly wonderful before it's lit either. I can't imagine why anyone would want to smell like that. The only people who would are too stoned to buy real perfume, they get their "essential oils" down at the head shop. Unless the cannabis is barely discernible, I would pass, thank you.
Mark - ohhh, I'm jealous! I used to go to BlueMercury every weekend in Georgetown! Where does your friend work?
V - Guerlian bought Mecheri? Wow! Where have I been?
bois - no wonder I love Bandit! LOL
flora - wow! that was hilarious! will you at least give this one a try?
For Mark: Goth Rosary's Heathen has a cannibis note. I have not personaly tried this line. Here's what the site says about Heathen: "Soft, Warm & Earthy... The smell of cannabis swirled with patchouli & sandalwood incense.... "

Marlen - she works at the Philadelphia BlueMercury on Rittenhouse Square. It is an addicting place, isn't it? God, the money I spend there...
Shannon, thanks for the info and link, very kind. I'm going to look into that now.
I am holding my breath with this one. Harhar. Couldn't resist.
No, Guerlain bought Keiko Mecheri's bottle design. Now Keiko has to repackage. They are due out anytime now.
The new Guerlains debuted in the Keiko bottles earlier this year.
I'm just surprised to see Fresh in the same bottle.
Shannon - I've tried all the Goth Rosary scents and Heathen is a nice dark, leafy aroma, but more patchouli than anything else.
Mark - are you in Philly?
Cait - LOL! Deep inhale....2, 3, 4...
The scent of moist, pollen-laden, spicy Cannabis buds is one of the most beautiful herbal notes - ever. Complex, uplifting, sensual and sunny, the glandular hairs, oozing volatile scent molecules and fixative resins remind me of saffron on steroids, somtimes crysallized, often red, always beautiful.
The smoke, however, is horrific. Can't see any perfumers using that scent (how would they recreate it? Headspace? LOL.)
The hemp oils I use in my perfumes is obviously from more juvenile, impotent plants than the type I describe in the previous sentence. It takes a fine perfumer's hand to duplicate the oozing, resinous ripe bud. I'll have to try this perfume, see what they presented as cannabis.
Marlen - yes, I'm going to school in Philly.
Anya - THAT was beautifully written. Thanks so much for sharing!
Mark - will this be available in Philly any time soon, do you know?
I'm from Philly, too, long having fled those grey streets. Rittenhouse Sq was my hangout in hippie days.
Yes Marlen, I will give it a try, when I have the chance. A Sephora store has just opened in my area, and I plan to make a pilgrimage soon, just to see all the new stuff I have not experienced yet. They will probably have to lead me away in a straitjacket after I get "high" on perfume - and NOT just the Cannabis Santal!
Flora - Ah Sephora...sadly, we have no Sephora in Japan...I think there WAS one in Tokyo, but it's long-since closed...Have a great time and let me know if you need someone to vouch for your sanity.
