REVIEW: Miller Harris, Tangerine Vert

Notes: Sicilian green tangerines, orange, grapefruit and lemon, with majoram and geranium, cedar, moss and sweet musk.

Pros: Fresh, tangy citrus scent. Very refreshing.

Cons: May be a bit too fleeting for some tastes, and only for lovers of orange scents.

Reminds me of: Moschino Friends Men, though a thousand times nicer; Azzaro Orange Tonic; Hermes Orange Vert.

Development: Never develops much, the lower notes hardly make a presence.

Longevity: Gone from my skin in about 2 hours, but might be better in hot weather.

Sillage: Stays very close to the skin.

Bottleworthy? Mine was a gift, but I don't think I'd pay retail price for this.

Where can I buy it? $85 for a 50ml edt at Saks.com

The Bottom Line: Developed by London's Miller Harris, Tangerine Vert is a beautiful citrus, focusing on tangerine and lemon, though never really lives up to the "vert" its name implies (ok, ok, so the tangerine is 'green tangerine'). The scent dries to a faint citrus aroma supported by a very light mossy musk. Very little projection suggests this one might work best in warmer weather, with body heat helping to project the fragrance. I'd love something slightly more complex, especially at THAT price, but will definitely enjoy Tangerine Vert this summer as I drive up the East coast of the US!

Rating (out of 10): 6

What other scents do you enjoy that focus on tangerine or mandarin?

I find most of MH scents to be quite fleeting. even the heady and sumptuous Fleur Oriental did not stay long, on my skin.

I thought this was a dead ringer for Hermes Eau d'Orange when I tried it. I love the MH Bottles and boxes, but I don't think that any of the scents stand out enough for me to buy one. Terre de Bois is probably my favorite if I had to choose.

Colombina - they are indeed, very fleeting...In fact I was surprised how quickly even the EDP's disappeared on me...

Mark - I really enjoy Terre de Bois, though at first, I severely disliked it. My favorite MH is definitely Terre d'Iris...from the Nouvelle line. Lasts forever and has both amazing sillage and development! The new cuir orange is also stunning as is the Vetiver Bourbon, and I hear great things about the Bois d'Encens and Piment scents...

I don't think I've smelled any of those that you've mentioned. I've smelled other MHs though. Exactly how many are in the entire line? I have only ever smelled about 6 or 7 of them.

Hey Mark, at last count there were about 17, I believe...

yes, I checked out the website, The ones that sound the most interesting are the ones in the Nouvelle series. The bottle they use for the eau de parfum 30ml for Citron Citron and Terre de Bois and a few others is absolutely stunning, heavy crystal with a beautiful stopper...with the signature etching.

Mark - the bottles are beautiful, but I was surprised that those 30ml edp's had disappointing longevity and sillage, especially considering the prices. I actually enjoy the EDT of Terre de Bois bette than the EDP.
